Catch and Release
Living water
runs wild and free
carving clay
like hands
writing Thee
Many times
I've sought to hold
control and mold
a force so bold
Collecting water
in a strainer
runs quickly out
In my container
it grows a swamp
The way to drink life
is to dive right in
to cease my rowing
To trust in his love
within me
flowing
For what is divine
cannot be mortally kept
It must be freely given
And we must choose to accept
Either in self we hope
or Christ does the work
– bondslaves to
futile grueling
or Christ's easy-yoke

"Jesus once again speaks of living water, saying, “'Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. ' By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive." John 7:37 - 39
