The Surgeon

That full moon's

unbreaking stare

Flays our shadows out

Laid bare

Silver-lit snares

Pieces we keep

Prove here thieves

of the peace that we seek

Losing things that we think

keep us glad

sometimes requires

a brief going mad

Loss brings change

By God's mercy we see

where we blindly

have watered

the wrong seeds⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

God sees at night

wounds only he can mend

He stitches submissions

so the old life can end

Then we can stand

in the next wax or wane

with unwavering joy

despite great pain⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Yes, the night comes

Not to oppose the day

But to unveil our need

in different shades

And like the moon

draws in the tide

Christ washes us

and offers us

his shore

and new life⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. Ephesians 4:23
