Seers and Watchers - A Call to Obedience

Updated: Aug 3

From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force.

Matthew 11:12

I have not wanted this topic to be misinterpreted as "special snowflake anointing." This is not an uncommon gift in the Holy Spirit- led, especially in this day, as it is written (Acts 2:17).

The Lord told me, once, that our obedience will be used to harden as many hearts as it will draw close to him. He reminded me that it's a privilege to partake in the right end of the fulfillment of prophecy, "in the last days, scoffers will come" (2 Peter 3:3). He is sifting the hearts of men.

When God takes away our fear of man, it's a liberation like no other. I praise him for it. When we fear the Lord, we don't fear man or the devil. It's truly a supernatural work that only the Lord can do. When we go out on an uncomfortable limb in obedience to the Lord, he uses it to shed our hearts of wrong loyalties. So, the Lord has had to help me fog-horn a bit, because the reality is that we are in a gritty war and many are dozing.

I say this in love, but with zeal:

Those who aren't engaged in spiritual warfare aren't engaged because they are losing. In the times that we are in, those who are behind Jesus are watching and are dispatched with the Word of God, the gospel of Jesus Christ and obedient prayer. If you're new, welcome. You've been drafted. : )

It's time to testify. It's time to pray. It's time to warn. And, it's time to invite. It's a great time to be alive. Just make sure that you are.

The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers. Matthew 9:35

I have a tremendous intercessory burden for the church to move valiantly, in the power of God. I believe that the Lord is going to open eyes and re-establish sight in those who have grown weary and dim. If this can loose someone from some the snare of doubt and passivity and into intercession and victory, then I would be remiss not to serve you!

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

1 Corinthians 12:4-7

Many readers, who subscribe to this blog, have similar giftings and sensitivities. Poets tend to attract poetic types. Sensitive people attract other sensitive people. As with poetry, seers often have to learn to think metaphorically about what the Holy Spirit reveals. While often very literal, God is also creative and poetic.

Because the gaslighting techniques of the adversary, who likes to stay hidden, are coming full force against bright-eyed intercessors, it's helpful to find others with the same eyes.

The remnant, according to the book of Revelation is a revelrying army, not a sleepy, lukewarm bride under the false peace of a religious tradition. There is no lukewarm bride of Christ (Rev. 3:16). There's only the wise or foolish. Sober or distracted. Watchful and diligent . . . or lazy (Matt 22 & 25). The latter is not allowed into the wedding supper of the Lamb. It's in God's word. The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.

The book of Hebrews warns us that there are grave consequences for not progressing in the faith and in the power of The Holy Spirit, into all that Christ died to give us. It highlights the fact that there are multiple baptisms (plural!) -- both of water and by fillings of the Holy Spirit. "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" (Acts 19:2)

The consequences of experiencing spiritual gifts without understanding can be lonely or confusing. Many people learn to ignore this gift when they are young, because of the disbelief of adults. Many eyes grow dim, because we fill them with entertainment, rather than fix our gaze on Jesus, like a flint. Devoting time at the feet of the Lord, until he pulls us up the mountain to see from his perspective is rewarding.

I haven't educated myself a lot about this topic, because I want to guard the purity of what God is able to do through his Holy Spirit and his Word, alone. But recently, the Lord plunked a resource into my lap that he gave me clearance to share. Whether this is for your children or for you, I want to share a couple of resources on how to nurture this gift, without thinking that you might be going mad.

After spooking someone by staring at them for too long and a series of strange events, I told the Lord that I'm not so sure that seeing in the Spirit is always such a gift. He revealed to me that I had forgotten some of the things that he taught me over the years about how he intends for us to use it.

Seeing (and sometimes, feeling) the spiritual realm is for the purpose of protection, intercession and blessing others. God is calling us to level up in our obedience in interceding, according to what he reveals to us, so that we can shift things in the spiritual realm according to God's kingdom come.

This is a call to arms.

In 2020, when I was in prayer, the Lord showed me the game Pac-Man. I just discovered that I'm not the only one that he showed this to. Please take heed:

Seers and watchers reveal the plans, activities and schemes of the enemy to the body of Christ, so that we can unite in intercessory prayer and fasting. Not all things that we see are to be shared. The Lord leads us, accordingly. The weapons in our arsenal are the Word of God -- the specific parts that cast down the deceptions that the Lord has revealed -- and prayer.

Ephesians 6:

In 2017, I purchased a Christian book about discernment called, All That's Good (it wasn't all that great, ironically). I bought it because I was asking the Lord to help me see more into the positive side of the spiritual realm -- to see more of the wonderful things that he is up to. I had grown weary of what satan and his demons were doing and the neglect of the shuffling church in curbing it.

In 2018, I went into church and asked some elders for healing prayer. After they prayed for me, they asked me what I have always wanted to do with my life. Without even thinking, as if a cork of effervescent champagne went off within me, I remembered my seven-year-old self sitting my neighbors down on my lawn to tell them about Jesus. "Evangelism!" I cried, moved to tears at the intensity of the bubbling well that rose within me to overflowing. Oh, precious Holy Spirit. What greater detonator to the kingdom of darkness than sharing the gospel of peace?

I share this with you, because there is something significant about impartation that I think we have lost sight of (Romans1 :11). And, I have just enough tenacity of faith that the Lord will lay his hand on readers, through this blog. This space is the Lord's -- and he is generous to all who come in humility.

So, what is the gift of spiritual vision, in relation to the discerning of spirits? It is the Holy Spirit highlighting the activity of the adversary and of God, for the purpose of precise intercessory warfare and the sowing of truth. Only God is omniscient, or all-seeing. But, when we have God alive within us, he sometimes brings us into his vision, so that we can be effective in our prayers and in ministering. Because we are in a spiritual war, the Lord of Hosts wants us to be made aware of where the enemy is is and what his plays are, so that we can block it through prayer, walk in the truth and set others free along the way. And, to stop doubting what we see and test it according to the Word of God and prayer.

Yet the Lord warned Israel and Judah through all His prophets and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways and keep My commandments, My statutes according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you through My servants the prophets.

2 Kings 17:13

Seeing can take a variety of forms, including:

  • Visions (both spatial and in the mind's eye)

  • Feeling (eg. cold or darkness, a veil of witchcraft in the atmosphere -- I experienced this often at the school that we removed my son from.)

  • Seeing or hearing words in our spirit that reveal a person's particular bondage. Eg. "shame", "lust", "jealousy" or "suicide" for someone that Lord may be asking us to pray for, or on whom we might be ministering to -- or regarding someone to be careful of. People who seek or agree to prayer are often relieved to be exposed, so don't be shy about what you think you are discerning, unless the Lord tells you that they aren't ready to genuinely repent. God does this, because he loves people and wants to set them free, just as the disciples did in the book of Acts.

  • Seeing or sensing specific spirits. Eg. Leviathan, Jezebel, Ahab or shamanism transposed on someone as a "picture" or behind a person's eyes. For example, I once "saw" a spirit of despair move from one person to another, trying to hide from me as I was ministering.

  • Knowing where or how an unclean spirit gained entry. For example, identifying a deaf and dumb spirit from a specific trauma, such as abuse by or witchcraft from Roman Catholicism in the family line. A deaf and dumb demon can become evident when speaking with people about the gospel, and one of the most bizarre that I encounter, as we can literally see it erasing or blocking truth, as if the person has a computer glitch.

  • I have a brother in Christ who sees a distortion upon some people's faces, who are demonized. I do not see that way, but I just wanted to highlight the way that the Lord helps one to see, differently from another.

  • Just a simple knowing, when praying for healing, if it's spiritual or physical. The Holy Spirit might reveal it by a single word, for casting out demons or doing deliverance, which I have experienced both ends of. For example, my pastors discerned a spirit of confusion, while praying for me, when I had amnesia. My left temple began to hurt, as they prayed. The Holy Spirit named a spirit of confusion and they began addressing and rebuking it. Green light flashed in my head. Days later, my memory was restored.

  • Dreams that unveil the enemy and his strategy behind a particular situation or person. A few years before that event, the Lord gave me a warning dream about a green witch's finger inserted into my left temple, coming from a group of professing Christians that were speaking into my life and "praying" for me to try and keep me down, inside of a dungeon that I was rising out of. On another occasion, he revealed a spirit of jealousy in this same group (looks like a half-slug/half-snake, curled around the shoulders). Jealousy attacks with confusion (James 3:16-17). In the dream, this group had clothed me with clothes that were not meant for me, nor did they fit. I never obeyed the Lord's warning to walk away from the group that he showed me in the dream, nor had I prayed enough, for understanding. Had I done my due diligence, I would have used the sword of the Spirit to remove the garments of their lazy slug - like religion, through prayer and repentance, rather than continue to seek counsel and fellowship with those in whom the spirit of confusion was targeting me, through. I was double-minded. A curse without cause cannot land (Prov 25:2). "Purify yourselves, you double-minded." (James 4:8)

  • Discerning evil altars. Example, in a church or family, such as the altar of tradition. As in my testimony, above, the heaviest witchcraft that I have encountered is religious Christianity, though not a lot of people may think of that. It makes sense, because witchcraft is ceremonies and rituals. They produce false peace from a false Holy Spirit. Freemasonry is another common altar that can be sensed, in places like restaurants or homes and can camouflage under mammon, as it was distilled down through generational lineage (in my experience, the atmosphere just feels like what you might imagine an Egyptian tomb feels like -- no matter how cozy or warmly decorated.)

  • Sensing a particular principality over a city or neighborhood (or nation). You might understand what its intentions and effects are, though you may or may not know its name. (We don't engage principalities in warfare. The warfare is that we ask God to intervene and send warring angels. We pray for the advancement of the gospel and pronounce or prophesy blessing, according to the leading of the Holy Spirit. We don't rebuke or cast out principalities, as with unclean spirits. Doing so is unwise, dangerous, and outside of our authority.)

  • Recognizing the subtle and deceptive programming in the media or entertainment.

  • The Holy Spirit revealing someone else's memories (useful for broken hearts or hidden trauma, when praying).

  • Knowing others' thoughts. (Yes. Mark 2: 8-11)

  • Viewing or hearing private conversations, when God is warning us about someone.

  • Prophetic revelation about what is to come, or what could come.

  • A simple "knowing" or understanding, be it deception or a way that God is going to bring blessing.

  • Recognizing someone's gifting and role in the kingdom, that has not been yet realized.

  • Seeing and understanding how God is going to redeem a hard situation or tragedy, because of the cross.

  • The ability to tell when someone has had the injection. (If you have taken the jab, please seek the Lord in repentance for deliverance and healing. I would be happy to pray with you.)

  • The ability to discern a true follower of Christ or the anointing of the Holy Spirit

  • Seeing the false identities that people are living in and what their true identities in Christ are or will be -- how he means for them to be, before the world yoked them to its pressures and expectations.

  • Seeing unfolding scenes or images, while praying in the spirit, according to what is taking place spiritually, or metaphorically.

  • Enemy plans regarding nations (eg. A war, government corruption or a demonic resistance coming against revival.)

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

John 14:12 - 14

In my experience, seeing without interceding can leave us feeling burdened and open to attacks from entities in the demonic realm that aren't so thrilled that you can see or sense them. When we see or sense something from the Lord, it's important to ask him what he'd like us to do, and to invite the Holy Spirit to help us intercede.

While the burden is the Lord's, we need to ask God for more and to train us to deal with what we see. And, for a greater ability to read and retain his word, which is the sword of the Spirit. We can ask him to help us see people's giftings, not just their demons. To see who he created them to be, that we may intercede or speak life and draw it forth. We can ask the Lord to allow us to see how he is going to redeem someone's situation or heartbreak, so that we can prophesy to them and ignite hope. We can ask him to send and help us to sense the presence of angels, which he promises to dispatch, concerning us (Luke 4:10). He will answer faithfully, to edify the body of Christ and affirm his chosen and holy priesthood.

As much as we love to reach into the slivers of the brokenhearted, that we might introduce them to the healer, El Roi, the God who sees Us, we can become drained by all we see and feel, without the intercession that releases us of the burden, once we have completed the task.

This is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:” Who say to the seers, “Do not see,” And to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things; Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.

Isaiah 30:9-10

A lot of time in the secret place with the Lord is essential. If we are prone to invalidation by the rebellious, willfully blind and faithless, doubt and confusion can take root to make us spiritually impotent. I'll never forget the day that I had such severe water retention, that I could hardly feel the floor beneath my feet. Dead serious. I went to the doctor. Then, the Lord told me how much the suppression of my giftings, which is his living water, alive within me, was contributing to my deteriorating health and wilting spirit. Instead of tapping out because of criticism from those who are under the veil of religion, I needed to tap in, and seek the helper, the Holy Spirit to intercede at a higher level. We are not meant to carry this, lest it grow heavy. We are meant to release it, through obedience.

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. John 15:7

As amazing and as awesome as the things are, that God allows us to see, it's not an easy gift to bear and steward. Seers are a target for the enemy, because they are such a threat. When we can see where he is and what he's doing, we can aim precisely at him and his craftiness with the word of God, which is sharper than a two-edged sword. So, while we can engage more effectively in spiritual warfare, we will also experience more of it. The sorcery of satan only has to work so hard as to keep people asleep or deadly lukewarm. For those who are awake and hot, he goes to plan B: steal and devour. But, we aren't to fear. No weapon formed against God's anointed will prosper. It's just a matter of how willing we are to enlist in the battle that he is calling us to.

We need spiritually sensitive people, especially in these times. God knows what he's doing, when he imparts gifts, whether it is something that we were born with or that we received, by the laying on of hands (or just because we asked the Lord for it.) "You do not have because you do not ask." (James 4)

I believe that this gift is on the table, if the Lord has led you here and if you're seeking him, wholeheartedly. The closer we get to God, the more he opens our eyes. As with most sensitivities, seeing requires diligent nurture and rest. And as with all gifts from God, it will only develop as much as we are obedient to make valuable use of it. (See parable of the talents in Matthew 25)

"Ro'eh" - Tongue that accompanied my prayer over this message. Check out the meaning. I believe it's available for those of you who are quickened by the Holy Spirit, and that you may reach out and receive it by faith. Here's what "Ro-eh" means:
