Nevermind the Gap

A flimsy fear fixed

on the empty spaces

between all questions and ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Answer

Christ gives eyes to see

through its illusion --

the black hole

that grows under attention

pulling with claws

to rip up joys

and create delusion

by whispering desperate lies

from its own grave

Our Father scatters it

by the blood of Jesus

as we declare and fix upon

His promise to mind ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

all the gaps⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

-- gaps we perceive

as problems and tasks

that keep us too busy

to follow his ask

to simply call fear's bluff ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

and step out ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

onto God's promises

and find that it's not our efforts

but his love that minds

and orders our steps

where his Word proves more

in a menacing storm

than here on the shore

So, step

and stumble

and then fumble

His arms

they'll catch you

at every tumble

His breath, a peace

A joy surpassing

refills the lungs

beyond understanding

Tomorrow, again

Step out, as He sends

fall again

call again

land again

stand again

Isaiah 35:4 "Say to those who have an anxious heart, 'Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you. "⠀⠀⠀⠀

Philippians 4: 6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
