The birch breathes
as the ocean
sighs in and out
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The tide agrees
with the moon
and the fall and rise
of the sea is caught
by the swell of the
robin's breast
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Clouds too, inhale
and release cries
of his glory -
the Word that spoke
all of life into being ⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
and chose us ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The flowers and their
creatures gladly receive
and exhale colourful praises
for the covenant of spring⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And of summer
After the fall
and dead
of winter
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In all of creation
only we
have the capacity
to choose
to hold our breath
It is to our death
to oppress our
desire for him -- ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
to ignore the gospel
and its gifts
and to close our lips
to the prayer that is
in our design
more essential than air
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Breathe.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Can't you hear the wheezing
of a world self-pleasing ⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Breathe
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Can you hear the Word
on a sea
that is pleading
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
