The birch breathes

as the ocean

sighs in and out

The tide agrees

with the moon

and the fall and rise

of the sea is caught

by the swell of the

robin's breast

Clouds too, inhale

and release cries

of his glory -

the Word that spoke

all of life into being ⠀⠀⠀

and chose us ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The flowers and their

creatures gladly receive

and exhale colourful praises

for the covenant of spring⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

And of summer

After the fall

and dead

of winter

In all of creation

only we

have the capacity

to choose

to hold our breath

It is to our death

to oppress our

desire for him -- ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

to ignore the gospel

and its gifts

and to close our lips

to the prayer that is

in our design

more essential than air

Can't you hear the wheezing

of a world self-pleasing ⠀⠀⠀

Can you hear the Word

on a sea

that is pleading

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
