The Pane
Updated: Jul 28, 2021
I know the darkness
The thin
window pain
between you
and
your blessings
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And those life-giving windows
that let cool relief into stifled air
And praying, "Please stay" ⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know the prayers of deliverance
cried into the night and the crowd
of fears and condemnations
that don't totally evaporate in the light
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know that we cannot hold open long
that window by the strength of
our own two arms
The sticks that the world hands us
snap under the weight of truth
and are better used as kindling⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Peace is a gift received and opened
with the Spirit of Truth⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Each Word
a wooden wedge in the sill
whisking in the breeze
A door out
Him entering A trading of places
In Christ
the pane
is removed
and it's calm
and we're free
and it's still

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 2:7
